Why an Orthodontist? Orthodontist vs. Dentist
All orthodontists are dentists first, but though not every dentist has the qualifications to be an orthodontist. As an orthodontist, Dr. Dudley has spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan.
Why does it matter if you see your Kent Orthodontist?
Specialists receive additional training to give them the skills needed to deal with more complex orthodontic problems. Dentists receive basic orthodontic training which allows them to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treat young children who do not need to see an orthodontist yet.
Seeing a specialist like an orthodontist may change your experience in braces by:
- Providing additional treatment options.
- Giving you more efficient treatment and visits, because it is the office’s primary area of care.
- Knowing that you’ll receive the best possible outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have severe bite problems that need to be addressed.
- Personal experience treating multiple cases that share your unique concerns
- Being seen more quickly, as a family dentist will be focused on longer patient cases or emergencies throughout the day.
You may think it’s easier to have your orthodontic work completed by your dentist. Convenience shouldn’t be a concern, because you will only be stopping by your Issaquah orthodontic offices every six to eight weeks.
And don’t let price be a problem either! Dudley orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Issaquah area.
Orthodontic treatment options in Kent
Kent braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of tooth issues, from simple to complex. Because they can sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. In addition, traditional braces don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making a cost-effective orthodontic option for patients on a budget.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The nearly invisible trays are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series in order to keep the teeth moving in the direction we want them to. Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. The Invisalign system can only work if these recommended guidelines are followed exactly, so patient compliance is critical to success. Neglecting to wear the aligners as directed can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
